This looks like a very handy appliance to squeeze into your kitchen - the ecopod is a recycling compactor that squashes all those plastic containers into a much smaller bundle.

"The Ecopod Recycling System from Williams-Sonoma crushes 50 plastic and aluminum containers and stores them in a plastic pod for transfer to your recycling bin. The bottom of the Ecopod unit also contains separate pods for glass bottles, newspapers and other recyclables, and the manual crushing mechanism is operated by a foot pedal at the bottom."

Awesome! As I write this, my husband is being our own human Ecopod in the kitchen, bundling up recycling. He's love to have one of these.

That sounds pretty good, but we have a small bin to put recyclable items that gets taken out by the local recycling company...I wonder if it could still fit in there?

It's a great idea, but rather pricey. I wonder what it's made of.... having said that, if it encourages some people to recycle more, it's worth it. Every little helps and some gadget crazy people will like it.

Very true...I wonder if it would sell best at either Brookstone or Sharper Image...or even at the science/nature stores!
